Fish Sticks (Baked) Are Back!

Remember fish sticks?

My mother bought them and served them for lunch...rather often. I always thought there was more crust than fish and wondered what kind of fish I was eating. (I was a very picky eater as a child, and some folks might still call me picky! But hey, I just like to know what I'm being served.)

Well, fish sticks are back...over at Organic Authority.Com, and they are healthy, homemade and hmmm, made from catfish! These Fish Sticks in a Flash can be made in about 10 minutes, and they are baked, not fried!

Another post at the same site offers a remoulade dipping sauce, just right for these fish sticks.

So, if you are after natural and organic or just plain good and something kids will like, check it out!

Hi Janet, thanks so much for stopping by my blog last week! :D There's a restaurant near us that has 'all you can eat' catfish on Friday nights---and I LOVE their catfish! Yumm!! Wish I had some right now...so I was thrilled to find recipes on your blog!! I intend to try some of them out. I do hope you'll come visit me again. :> I've added you to my bloglines so I can visit you as soon as you post. :D

Hi Angie, thanks for visiting! That is great that you have an "all-you-can-eat" catfish place. As you can tell from the "Ode to Mac's Fish Camp" post, we no longer have one here. Glad you like the recipes, and I appreciate you adding me to your bloglines!

I like fish but have to draw the line at fish sticks. I just couldn't get the taste for those when growing up. Guess I'm picky eater too. Been through your town several times, have a lot of family scattered around AL. Hope you and yours have a blessed evening.

yep..I remember fish sticks.and I'm not much of a seafood eater..gasp..yeah..yeah..I know..how odd for a gal born and raised in Florida huh??..ahh well. But farm raised catfish is pretty good though. I just can't stand that overly fishy tasting stuff though..if it is a strong fishy taste..forget it..uh huh..this gal won't try it.

Good morning, Laura. I have a lot of family scattered around Alabama, too. Also have family over your way...Hernando, Jackson, Holly Bluff, Meridian. I have been through Pontotoc on the way to Hernando and Memphis, but that was a long time ago! I remember that the area in East Mississippi around West Point is also black dirt, so it looks a lot like the terrain here.
About fish sticks...I haven't tried this homemade recipe yet, but apparently it is a healthy and tasty alternative to those frozen sticks made of some other kind of fish.
When I try these, I will let you know how my taste buds react!

Hi Garden Goose, Strong, fishy tastes aren't for me either! That is one reason I like the pond-raised fish from Catfish Country!

I can't remember the last time I had fish sticks. It was probably the last time my kids begged for them.
I will have to check these out. Fish sticks and Mac & Cheese was a traditional friday-night meal!

Oh I grew to really hate fishsticks when I was a kid. There was a time we had them every second day - we had just moved house, renovations were susposed to be finished, but were not, so we did not have a kitchen. My Mom set up a make-shift one in the garage. She had a frezzer full of food and a time gas stove. I guess fish sticks were just easy! We tease her about it now. I might just surprose her and makes this recipe the next time she visits! Issy

Seems like everybody's had fish sticks at some time! Back when our mothers and grandmothers still made a lot of food from scratch, the packaged fish sticks were probably a welcome addition to the grocery store aisle! I remember that we hardly ever ate out, and those were the days before drive-in fast-food restaurants.
